Case Study 3 - Ski Mask The Slump God - Catch Me Outside - Cole Bennett

Ski Mask The Slump God - Catch Me Outside - Cole Bennett

Textual Analysis:

"Catch me outside" is a song by Ski Mask The Slump God and the video was directed by Cole Bennett. This video had no planning and no budget and i feel it came out really well. this video is mainly performance based however, they have incorporated a concept into the video. this video takes influence from chance the rapper's "juice" and they shot their video in Time Square. This video uses a range of different camera shots and angles, like close ups of the artist and long-shots of the artist. here are lot of low angles used in this music video and this is typically used to create intimidation or make the person in the frame look more superior and powerful. the constant change in camera angle keeps the video interesting and unpredictable. this is done especially in the large amount of one shot footage that is used throughout the video. the camera would move from showing just his shoes and move up to his face and then follow him down a street, all in one shot. the lighting used in this video is all natural light that comes from the lights in time square. this shows how raw and authentic this video is; no planning, no budget - just the artist and a camera.
